This Roosebeck 8 Course Lute features a bowl constructed of 25 scalloped staves and a peg box with lace work. The scale length is 600 mm. Materials: The body is spruce soundboard with 25 staves for bowl. Neck is Sheesham. The soundboard is Spruce. Tuning peg are Sheesham. Included are a padded nylon case, extra string set. Excellent build quality. Beautiful colors and appearance of wood. Tricky to tune. Takes a while for strings to stretch enough to hold tune. If you have  ever played a lute before, be aware that holding and playing a lute requires a very different technique compared to classical guitar. Very nice sound with crisp highs and solid, tight bass. Lots of fun once you get the hang of it. Very happy with my purchase.

I am very pleased with the quality of the Roosebeck Deluxe 8-Course Lute, Candian Spruce. The fit and finish are what I would expect, as is the sound and playability. At this price I would consider this to be an entry level instrument, but I was happily surprised at it's professional qualities. The only thing I am disappointed with is the case, hence only 4 stars! I expected to receive the Roosebeck fitted case pictured on your site, not the inexpensive substitute I received.
Today I ordered the case pictured your site, but what will I do with the one that came with the Lute, I'll not be using it?Perhaps you should offer the option of a case upgrade at the time of purchase? I thought of asking if I could exchange the case, but the return shipping is almost $60.00 plus an additional $50.00 for the new case.
