The Roosebeck Travel Lute has a body made of eleven solid Sheesham staves. The neck, fingerboard, peg box are also crafted of Sheesham, attached at an angle of 135 degrees to reduce the depth of the instrument. The tuning pegs and end pin are Sheesham. The soundboard is made out of European Spruce. The nut is bone. There are eight nylon frets and four Sheesham frets. The recommended tuning is G4, D4/D4, A3/A3, F3/F3, C4/C3, G3/G2, F3/F2.Softcase & Extra String Set Included, Free Shipping.

The lute arrived quickly, and was well-packaged.  I was looking for a kind of "starter" instrument, and this serves that purpose.  Certainly, someone who already plays the lute (or guitar) might want to look for a more traditional instrument.  I had noted a review that expressed concern over pegs slipping.  I have not found that to be an issue, but I know that orchestral stringed instruments (violins, violas, cellos) can have similar issues, and that peg drops can be used on those instruments.

I'm new to period instruments, but I've been a musician most of my life. The soundbite helped me select this lute, but it just doesn't  do it any justice. The sound of this instrument is just magnificent and the craftsmanship was impressive. It shipped quickly and was well-packaged. I am impressed all around and would highly recommend this product.
