I wanted to spend a week or so with my new lute before writing a review. Now that I have had a chance to get to know it, I can say without reservation that it is every bit as good as instruments I have played that cost triple its price. The craftsmanship is flawless, the materials are aesthetically beautiful, and the lute has a sweet, lyrical tone with tons of resonance and good volume/projection. The action and intonation are perfect, and I only have one peg that occasionally slips, though not badly enough to have forced me to apply paste or chalk. The case is also better than I expected. It has much more padding than a simple gig bag. I expect I will replace it with a hardshell case at some point, but for now it's perfectly adequate.
The customer service from Handcrafted instruments was top-notch. The lute was shipped promptly and arrived in flawless condition.
