Single toomba sitars, which have fewer inlays and fewer carvings, offer an elegant alternative to the double toomba sitars. Without the small neck resonator these sitars are less top heavy as compared to the traditional double toomba sitar. Bhargava & Co. was established in 1948 as wholesalers of musical instruments. Today they are a manufacture and a leading exporter of musical instruments. Decorations and colors will vary. These are all individually made and will be unique.

4 of 5 Comes with the quality you expect for the price January 3, 2019

My Sitar arrived extremely well packaged, they made sure it wouldn't move even the slightest bit in the cover. Top job, that.
On to the quality of the instrument, the finish was good, but the build itself, wasn't. The Taraf Mogara weren't glued in well and were pooping out during tuning. I had to take them out, clean them and use wood glue and set them back in.
It's very light, and the sound is really nice.

I'd recommend this Sitar for a beginner for sure, just make sure you take it to someone who can inspect it after you buy it, so you know what you'll have to tweak or repair.

4 of 5 VERY good for the price December 3, 2016

When I saw the video of the black natraj sitar, I was slightly worried about how it would sound. However after ordering and playing this version, i think the video does not do it justice. This sitar has great sound quality; I was expecting worse, so when I heard this one I was quite pleasantly surprised. Just be sure to tune correctly otherwise the sound quality goes down!

Some of the pegs do slip out of tune and it gets rather annoying to have to keep adjusting, but quite frankly im very very satisfied with what I got. Great instrument!

4 of 5 Review of Natraj Sitar, Single Toomba September 27, 2014
Reviewer: Liz from Fairfax, VA United States
I was very impressed with Handcrafted World Instruments extremely fast shipping. My sitar arrived in great shape, undamaged, no cracks, warping, etc. It is a basic, beginner sitar- no bells and whistles, stripped down, simple style (no company name on the instrument, no fancy decorations). It seems to play just fine so far, I've had minimal problems with the pegs slipping out of tune (you just have to push them in firmly while turning them). Broke 2 of the sympathetic strings, but the sitar shipped with a complete extra set, so I got some practice replacing them (it wasn't as hard as I thought). Have already learned a scale out of the instruction book that comes along with it. There was also a little bag of different sized mizrabs (picks) which was nice, since I had no clue what size I'd need. If you're looking for a basic sitar to learn on, this is probably a good one to start with. I'm pleased with mine so far.
