Great for a Beginner; OK for a Pro October 5, 2017
Reviewer: WhistlingBadger from Wyoming, United States
I have about 20 years bodhran experience.  After a couple hours playing on this, here are my impressions.  My last drum was a high-end Halpin, so I am probably a fairly tough grader.

Pros:
--Seems solidly built (time will)
--The rosewood and unbleached goat skin are really classy looking.
--Tuning mechanism is simple, straight-forward.
--The overall sound is fine for an inexpensive drum.
--Head is nice and smooth; feels good on the hand.
--Head is fairly responsive to pitch-bending.

Cons:
--The head is mounted very tightly.  Even with the tuning screws loosened all the way, I cannot get the pitch of this drum as low as I like.  Hopefully it will loosen up with additional playing.
--The strip under the drumhead tacks is cheap vinyl instead of leather.
--The head is advertised as soft but it just feels like really smooth rawhide.  Not quite as flexible as I was hoping.

Overall:
Nice drum for $100, and should get better with time.
